Encapsulation of poorly water-soluble substances by spray drying
Poorly water-soluble substances are commonly occurred during product development in pharmaceutical and other industries. Even so it´s desirable to transport these substances in a suitable form to the target substrate (which is able to absorb hydrophobic substances), through an aqueous environment. One possibility is to prepare an oil-water emulsion, dissolve the API in the oil phase and to encapsulate the emulsion into a hydrophilic carrier particle which may be water soluble. The aim of this work is to prepare such formulations using spray drying process, to characterise the produced microparticles and to evaluate the release kinetic of encapsulated substance.
