Four new PhD students have joined the Chobotix group with the start of the academic year: Tereza Boleslavská – Development of advanced bio-relevant dissolution methods, Jiří Kolář – Mathematical modelling of pharmaceutical unit operations, Petra Janská – Interaction of microparticles with biological substrates, and Ondřej Kareš – Remotely controlled formation of gases and microbubbles. Many congratulations to David Smrčka for winning 2nd place at the Best Poster Award competition (most pharmaceutically relevant poster category, sponsored by GSK) at the 2017 International Granulation Workshop in Sheffield. With over 120 poster presentations in total, it was not easy to stand out. Well done!
Many congratulations to Petra Janska and Terka Choderova for successfully passing the State exam and defending their Diploma theses, thus earning the degree of Engineer (Ing.)!
Prof. Stepanek has delivered a lecture on chemical robots at the New Scientist Instant Expert event on Transformative Medicine, held at the Royal College of General Practitioners in London. Other topics featured at the event included gene editing, artificial organs, brain stimulation or cell therapy.
Many congratulations to Jitka Cejkova for an invited lecture at the AFO 2017 where she describes the intriguing behaviour of droplet-based robots and their relationship to artificial life.
Our paper titled “The combined use of imaging approaches to assess drug release from mutlicomponent solid dispersions” has been featured on the front cover of the May 2017 issue of Pharmaceutical Research. This work is the result of collaboration between Katka Punčochová and Miška Gajdošová, with Josef Beránek and Tomáš Pekárek from Zentiva, and Andrew Ewing with prof. Sergei Kazarian from Imperial College London. Many congratulations to all authors for this excellent achievement!
