In order to deliver an active substance or its percursor to the place of interest (e.g. the leaf of a plant, or a specific organ in the human body), it is often necessary to encapsulate the substance into a carrier particles that protects it from the outside environment, but also prevents premature leakage of the substance. We are exploring novel encapsulation technologies based on naturally sourced particles, in combination with processes such as spray drying or microfluidics.
